We’re Expecting

As of this morning I am a goat owner.  Two Nigerian Dwarf goats, Reindeer and Callisto, will be joining our menagerie.  (These are the names they come with, but we’re deciding on whether to change Reindeer.)  Both will be joining us on Sunday.

Reindeer comes in milk, so we’ll be enjoying goat milk from their arrival.  (That is if I can get the hang of the milking.  I learned today that I am not a natural.)

There’s so much to do around here to prepare for their arrival.  I feel like I’m nesting for a new baby.  Here are a few pictures of our trip to the goat farm.  I apologize for any blurriness.  The seller had three children under 5 and we brought a 15 year old, two 12 year olds, and a 17 month old.  Add to that 2 dogs and about 8 goats, and it was absolute, hilarious chaos.  Good times.

This is Callisto, the baby.

If you had a goat, what would you name it?  Have you ever milked or owned a goat?
